A Michelin Starred Date Night at Jotoro Mexican Restaurant Sparkman Wharf
There’s no shortage of restaurants at Sparkman Wharf. Still, only one sits nestled in a prime spot on the corner of Channelside and Garrison, beckoning passersby to sit and have a margarita on one of its breezy patios. In fact, there’s never been a time of day when I walk past Jotoro and don’t feel a wistful moment of wishing I could abandon all other plans, grab an outdoor seat, and order a paloma and some Street Corn Chicken Nachos. It’s a “hip-hop meets mariachi” and “sequins mix with sandals” vibe, according to the Jotoro website, and I couldn’t agree more.
I Tried TikTok's Viral Cucumber Pepper Salad, and I'm Bringing It to Every Summer Barbecue
The internet is obsessed with a brand new salad, and there’s zero lettuce involved. “Cucumber pepper salad” has gone viral, thanks to former The Bachelor winner Rachael Kirkconnell, who shared a video of her making it on TikTok in early March. Since Kirkconnell shared the dish, which she describes as her “absolute favorite snack or salad,” the video has been viewed more than three million times. The hashtag #cucumberpeppersalad has garnered millions of views on the app as other TikTokers have made their own versions and shared their rave reviews.
The 10 Groceries I Always Buy at Dollar Tree To Save a Buck
As a mom of two, my relationship with Dollar Tree has changed throughout the years. A store I once only visited for birthday party favors or Easter basket fillers has become a place my tween likes to shop for makeup and hair accessories or, thanks to TikTok, a shopping destination I visit for supplies for the occasional DIY project. But in recent years, I've started picking up more and more of my weekly groceries at Dollar Tree as well.
My family of 4 went to LongHorn Steakhouse for the first time, and our $150 dinner felt like an incredible value
My husband and I have always prided ourselves in the fact that we rarely eat at chain restaurants and try to support locally-owned businesses whenever possible.
But lately, our teenagers have been asking about the chain restaurants they've seen in ads or on TikTok, so we decided to try some together as a family.
How to do an Epic Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Food Crawl
If Shula's is pricer than you'd like to have on your Swan and Dolphin crawl, then consider Rosa Mexicano. With appetizers like guacamole made tableside and Camarones Diablos — crispy, spicy shrimp cooled down with avocado ranch — and a bar menu made up of beer, wine and 101 different types of tequila, mezcal and sotol (another distilled spirit made from the agave plant), Rosa is a great spot to grab a bar seat and share some snacks and cocktails.
What is raclette cheese? Experts explain the melty TikTok trend.
Move over, fondue, there's a new cheese in town and it comes with its own grill. Raclette, a cheese made to be melted and scraped over food, hails from countries like France and Switzerland and has a slightly pungent aroma and a salty, slightly nutty flavor. It gives a melted Swiss vibe in its appearance, and has a flavor similar to Gruyere.
Gordon Ramsay explains why he thinks his Hell's Kitchen restaurants have 'become the 21st Century Hard Rock Café'
On Next Level Chef, Gordon Ramsay encourages culinary hopefuls to cook great food that will save them from elimination and get them one step closer to winning the reality cooking competition. But his gentle demeanor and calm way of explaining cooking techniques is vastly different from the Ramsay Hell's Kitchen fans are used to seeing on their televisions.
Step back into the 1880s with a visit to Silver Dollar City, a theme park in the Ozarks
I had no idea what to expect when I packed my bag for a day at Silver Dollar City (SDC), a theme park located in the Ozark Mountain Region of Branson, Mo. Before walking through the park gates, I knew only a few things: the park is set in the 1880s, it's known for its food — like barbecue and cinnamon bread — and a friend who had previously visited described the overall experience as a "fever dream" ... in the best possible way.
Hilary Duff shares why she's had to limit her wine-drinking as she gets older: 'I'll wake up at 3 in the morning with anxiety'
On How I Met Your Father, Hilary Duff spends time with friends at Manhattan bars and trendy dinner parties. But in real life, the 35-year-old mom of three says she's become "a short-order chef" in her own kitchen.
"It's tough. Some days are tougher than others,” she tells Yahoo Life of cooking for Luca, 10; Banks, 4; and Mae, 1.
Making gumbo for Mardi Gras? One New Orleans chef says 'slow and low is the way to go.' Get his recipe.
Gumbo is the state cuisine of Louisiana, so on a recent trip to New Orleans, trying as many gumbo recipes as possible was at the top of my must-do list. The flavorful soup, made from meat or shellfish (sometimes both), a thickener and the "holy trinity" — celery, bell peppers and onions — is typically served with a scoop of rice. A steaming bowl of gumbo is a delightful way to start a meal in NOLA, but the most spectacular version I tried was chef Eric Cook's recipe, served up at his restaurant, Gris-Gris.
Why Dolly Parton eats her own home-cooked meals on tour: 'I like to eat something comforting'
As the fourth of 12 children, Dolly Parton spent lots of time watching her mother cook, but it's a recipe from her dad that she often uses to start her 9 to 5. "When we were growing up," she recalls, "sometimes when Momma was sick or having a baby, Daddy would help with the cooking."
Parton still makes her dad's milk gravy (a white gravy made with flour and milk and typically served with sausage and biscuits) for breakfast "at least once a week," she tells Yahoo Life. "My daddy was left-handed, so when he would make that gravy, he would call it 'left-handed gravy,' so we loved Daddy's left-handed gravy."
